Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the much-awaited Grand Vitara launch date on July 20, 2022. The new model can be booked online or at an authorized NEXA premium dealership network by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. The car would be competing with rival Hyundai Creta, the new Maruti Grand Vitara will replace the ageing S-Cross crossover.

Grand Vitara Maruti Suzuki has released multiple teasers revealing the design details of the new Grand Vitara. The new teasers also confirm that the new Maruti Grand Vitara will come with a digital instrument console; Suzuki’s patented All Grip AWD system with drive modes and a hybrid powertrain.

Grand Vitara features and offerings:

The digital instrument console teaser reveals a full-colour display in the centre, a fuel gauge on the right and a charge mode indicator on the left side. This cluster will be offered on the electric hybrid version of the SUV, while the mild hybrid version is expected to receive a slightly different unit. The instrument console looks largely identical to the one offered in the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder; however, Maruti Suzuki has made some changes in terms of colour combinations and display which will not be exactly the same as the Toyota hyryder.

The SUV’s all-wheel-drive system will come with the 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine with a mild hybrid system. This engine is capable of producing 101bhp of power and 136.8Nm of torque. There will be two transmissions on offer which include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The AllGrip all-wheel-drive system will be offered with the manual gearbox version of the Maruti Grand Vitara. It is the same AWD system that is offered on the global-spec Suzuki Vitara.

The teaser also reveals that the AllGrip all-wheel-drive system will offer 4 driving modes – Auto, Sand, Snow and Lock. In the auto mode, the AWD system intelligently senses the terrain and varies torque to the wheels on demand. The front-wheel drive version of the Vitara’s 1.5L petrol will come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed that the Grand Vitara will come with a panoramic sunroof. It will be the first Maruti Suzuki model in our market to offer a panoramic sunroof. The new Maruti Brezza also gets a sunroof, but it is a single-pane unit.

The Maruti Grand Vitara will also come with Toyota’s 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with strong hybrid tech. The petrol engine churns out 91bhp and 122Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a synchronous AC motor that pushes out 79bhp and 141Nm. The maximum usable power and torque stand at 114bhp and 141Nm respectively. It is coupled to an e-CVT gearbox.

The new SUV is designed and developed on Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the Brezza and the S-Cross. It will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi-based plant in Karnataka. Suzuki is also expected to export the new Made-in-India Grand Vitara to select international markets. In fact, Suzuki Australia’s local unit has been pushing Suzuki Japan to introduce the Grand Vitara in Australia.

Maruti Grand Vitara is a 5 seater SUV. The Maruti Grand Vitara is expected to launch in India in September 2022.
